A report on the results of foreign policy efforts across the week. There are tangible decisions from our partners supporting Ukraine — primarily at the level of the European Union. Today, the Government and Office teams summarized our interaction with Europe at the level of the European Council, the European Commission, and member states. Our partners acknowledge Ukraine’s fulfillment of the necessary conditions on the path to accession — our progress in preparation for accession, essential reforms, and the implementation of European standards in Ukraine. We are delivering on our promises. Our goal is to be ready already this year to open all negotiation clusters, with the first cluster opening as early as July. It is important that our partners in Europe also be prepared to fully uphold their commitments in relations with Ukraine. There was also a report today on trade negotiations with the European Union. We are pursuing both Ukraine’s national interests and the goal of strengthening Europe as a whole at the same time. I am grateful to all countries, all leaders, and our team for the active Ukraine-NATO relationship. There is a historic decision by the Alliance to gradually increase defense spending by member states, which will also include assistance to Ukraine’s defense and resilience. We are actively working to ensure that partner funds are directed towards weapons production in Ukraine, as well as for Ukraine to be a full participant in European defense development programs — notably the SAFE (Security Action for Europe) program. I expect the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Office team to work with maximum focus on concrete agreements with Europeans regarding financing our defense, training, and equipping Ukrainian warriors. There was also a report on implementing agreements following visits to the United Kingdom and the Netherlands. We have separately discussed the implementation of the agreement between Ukraine and the Council of Europe on establishing the Tribunal regarding Russia’s aggression against Ukraine. I have instructed the Office team and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to develop a clear schedule of practical steps for establishing the Tribunal — finalizing necessary agreements with partners, launching the institution, and ensuring its real functioning. True justice must be delivered, and this process should not drag on for years or decades. Our joint actions with partners to ensure fair punishment of Russia for its aggression must be sufficiently swift and consistently professional. Glory to Ukraine!
