According to a report by Golden Finance, cryptocurrency exchange Gemini has filed a complaint with the CFTC Inspector General, accusing the agency's enforcement department of launching a seven-year "legal battle" action, claiming that it was motivated by career advancement rather than consumer protection. Gemini stated that the entire investigation originated from a "lie filled" report by former Chief Operating Officer Benjamin Small, who was fired and later found by an arbitrator to have engaged in fraudulent behavior. Nevertheless, Gemini ultimately paid a fine of $5 million to resolve the case.
