ElizaOS founder Shaw posted in Farcaster that X (formerly Twitter) accused it of violating the terms of service, claiming that it sold data and bypassed API keys to sell products, and demanded that it pay a monthly enterprise license fee of $50000 using its open source code as evidence. Shaw denies commercial use, stating that he is currently only paying a total of $1200 per month for basic certification and development licenses. He accuses X of "blatant extortion" and questions its legality, considering whether to file a lawsuit.
