According to Decrypt, Meta announced the acquisition of a 49% stake in data annotation company Scale AI for $14.3 billion, with a valuation of $29 billion, making it its second largest investment in history. Founder Alexandre Wang will join Meta to lead the establishment of a new "Super Intelligence Laboratory" focused on the research and development of General Artificial Intelligence (AGI). This move highlights Meta's AI strategy to accelerate catching up with OpenAI and Google. The trading structure retains the independent operation of Scale to alleviate regulatory pressure. Today morning, it was reported that Scale AI announced a new round of investment from Meta, with a valuation of over $29 billion.
