German FIU: Cryptocurrency's share of suspicious activities in Germany hits historic high
According to Bloomberg, the German Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) announced in Cologne on Tuesday that digital assets accounted for a record high proportion of suspicious activity reports (SARs) received from banks and financial service companies last year.
Although the total number of suspicious activity reports has decreased after the industry received guidance to insist on submitting relevant reports, notifications related to cryptocurrency still increased by 8.2% to 8711. The FIU annual report shows that the majority of reports involve BTC, followed by ETH, XRP, USDT, and LTC. The institution pointed out that these tokens are often associated with trading platforms, coin mixing services, or gambling related transactions.
