Odaily Planet Daily News: The Bank of Japan has released the second progress report on its Digital Yen pilot program, revealing that a working group is studying how the central bank's digital currency (CBDC) can be combined with emerging technologies such as distributed ledger technology (DLT). As part of the exploration, researchers are considering deploying CBDC on public chains. Although this solution is currently not feasible, the potential future development direction may be to adopt a more powerful Layer 2 blockchain solution. It is worth mentioning that shortly after the release of this report, Kazushige Kamiyama, Executive Member of the Bank of Japan, stated that there are currently no plans to issue a central bank digital currency.
