Ukrainian man arrested for hacking into server for mining, involving over 4.4 million US dollars

According to Cointelegraph, the Ukrainian National Police have arrested a 35 year old man on charges of hacking into over 5000 client accounts of an international custody company since 2018, using its servers to deploy virtual machines for cryptocurrency mining, resulting in the company losing over 18.5 million hryvnias (approximately 4.4 million US dollars). The police seized computer equipment, wallets, and hacking tools at his residence. The man is facing a maximum of 15 years in prison and a related industry ban, and the case is still under further investigation.
