According to the Wall Street Journal, Meta is seeking to collaborate with Hollywood to obtain exclusive content for its planned high-end virtual reality headset to be launched next year. According to informed sources, this technology company has been in talks with entertainment brands such as Disney and A24, as well as some smaller production companies. Meta is willing to invest millions of dollars to purchase series or standalone immersive video content based on well-known intellectual property. Meta hopes that these contents will attract consumers to purchase its planned virtual reality device, which will compete with Apple's VisionPro, to be launched next year. This new device, codenamed "Loma" internally, is more powerful and has higher video fidelity than the Meta Quest virtual reality headset currently available on the market. Its design is similar to a pair of large glasses, more like Meta's Ray Ban AI glasses, rather than the goggles used by Quest and VisionPro. It is connected to a small device that users can put in their pocket. According to some informed sources, Meta plans to price this device below $1000, which is higher than the Quest's starting price of $300 but lower than VisionPro's base price of $3500.
