BlockBeats News: On June 3rd, according to Cointelegraph, Texas Republican Congressman Brandon Gill is facing scrutiny for late reporting of Bitcoin transactions up to $500000, which may have violated federal law.
Gill is a first-time elected member of Congress known for proposing a bill to print former President Donald Trump's portrait on the $100 bill. He declared two Bitcoin purchase transactions, one on January 29th and the other on February 27th, with each transaction ranging from $100000 to $250000.
However, the disclosure time for both transactions exceeded the 45 day reporting deadline stipulated in the STOCK Act. This law aims to curb insider trading and financial conflicts of interest among legislators.
