The Thai government is planning to allow tourists to use cryptocurrency for consumption through platforms linked to credit cards. This measure was announced by Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Pichai Chunhavajira at an investment seminar in Bangkok on May 26, 2025.
Tourists can bind their cryptocurrencies (such as BTC, ETH, USDT, etc.) to a credit card or payment platform that supports cryptocurrency payments, and then swipe their cards in Thailand just like using a regular credit card. Merchants receive Thai baht instead of cryptocurrency.
Essentially, it is the same principle as foreign exchange credit cards or debit cards, which is the compliance of U-cards in Thailand.
