Odaily Planet Daily News: The United States Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia issued a statement on Friday stating that Eric Council Jr., a 26 year old Alabama resident, has been sentenced to 14 months in prison. Eric Council Jr. is accused of conspiring to commit serious identity theft and device access fraud, which is related to the intrusion of SEC's social media accounts. Previously, the X account of the US SEC was hacked and false information was released, falsely claiming that the spot Bitcoin ETF had been approved. The false release occurred one day before the actual approval of the spot Bitcoin ETF by the US SEC, which briefly caused market volatility. (The Block)
