Samourai Wallet accuses US prosecutors of concealing their regulatory opinion that it does not require a license

According to Cointelegraph, lawyers for the founder of Samourai Wallet have submitted a letter to the New York Federal Court stating that the US Treasury Department's FinCEN informed prosecutors as early as 2023 that the wallet does not constitute a licensed "money services business" (MSB) as it does not hold user private keys. But the prosecutor delayed disclosing the opinion for more than a year and instead charged the founders Keonne Rodriguez and William Hill with unlicensed operation and money laundering conspiracy in April 2024. At present, the two have pleaded not guilty, and the lawyer plans to apply for withdrawal again based on this, stating that their client has always believed that their actions were legal.
