Ledger user receives fraudulent letter, disguises official request for mnemonic words

Foresight News|Apr 30, 2025 02:09
According to Foresight News, crypto trader Jacob Canfield tweeted that users of the hardware wallet Ledger recently received a paper letter disguised as the official Ledger, requesting to scan a QR code and provide wallet mnemonics to perform a 'critical security update', otherwise access to the wallet may be restricted. Ledger's official response called this a fraud and reminded users to remain vigilant. Ledger will never provide mnemonic words through phone calls, messages, or requests. The incident may be related to the Ledger data breach in July 2020, when over 270000 users' personal information was leaked.
