FBI: Americans lost $9.3 billion in cryptocurrency fraud last year

Odaily Planet Daily News A report from the Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) shows that in 024, the losses caused by cryptocurrency related crimes in the United States reached 9.3 billion dollars. This loss has increased by 66% compared to 2023, highlighting the increasing use of digital assets in online fraud. IC3's annual report shows that nearly 150000 complaints are related to cryptocurrency, with investment fraud being the most common. Scammers often pretend to offer high returns on fake cryptocurrency platforms, lure victims to transfer funds, and then steal them. (CoinDesk)
