BlockBeats News: On April 22nd, the United States announced new tariffs on solar products imported from Cambodia, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam. According to a decision released on the website of the US Department of Commerce on Monday local time, the agency calculated anti-dumping duties on solar products from the four Southeast Asian countries to be between 6.1% and 271.28%, depending on the company and country. The countervailing duty ranges from 14.64% to 3403.96%. These four countries currently supply about 77% of the photovoltaic modules to the United States, with a total export value of $12.9 billion in solar equipment to the United States last year. This tariff decision is the final result of a one-year trade investigation. This survey was initiated by former President Biden and proposed by domestic solar manufacturers in the United States. Although domestic manufacturers in the United States see this as a victory, the new tariffs may exacerbate cost pressures on the renewable energy industry, which is already facing policy shifts and economic headwinds. The Trump administration is trying to revive the fossil fuel industry and continue to cut support for green projects. (Golden Ten)
