The core of the English CT discussion these days is that the project team cannot adapt to the current casino core of the Crypto market and calls for more innovation. Chinese CT is discussing Mr. Du's post about the dissolution of ABCDE, and many people believe that they cannot keep up with the latest version.
This is a very sad topic. Indeed, since the second half of last year, a large number of Crypto VCs have been off work. When the funds raised in the 21-22 year cycle are used up, the new installment cannot be received for a long time. As far as I know, the names on the list in the Asian region are either transferred to the second level, laid off to only retain core personnel, or not involved or transferred to incubation.
I have been working in the VC field for some years, and now it feels like the end of 2018. Everything is silent, and at that time, all the VCs available in Asia had no voice. Only a few exchange VCs were still struggling to support themselves because they couldn't make money from working as VCs and couldn't raise funds for projects. Some friends had transitioned to second tier positions, while others chose to withdraw directly. At that time, the market ecology was somewhat similar to what it is now. The narrative on the chain had not yet emerged, and tokens could only be traded on exchanges, filled with the useless theory of Crypto. The first wave of the rise of contracts was at that time, when OK and Bybit's U-based contracts gradually replaced Bitmex's coin based contracts because they better matched users' trading habits.
Will it launch a fierce counterattack like in 20 years? Many friends have a pessimistic attitude, so they leave one after another. Their logic is simple and effective. On the one hand, all the users who should have come in have come in, and everyone has become accustomed to the gameplay of Casino. They are used to buying and selling to define the quality of projects, just like they are used to short ETH. The attributes of users have already been established. On the other hand, it is difficult for us to see the explosion of large-scale applications at the blockchain level. Social, Gaming, ID, and other fields have already been "reconstructed" by Crypto, but in the end, everyone finds it to be a mess, making it difficult to find new Infra opportunities and unlimited imagination.
I personally have no subjective opinions and cannot refute the views of my friends. At this moment, I can only say to myself: hold on a little longer. Since I have chosen to work in this industry, I will wait until the moment when I really finish work.
