The President of Kyrgyzstan has signed legislation granting legal status to the 'Digital Som', but is still deciding whether to issue it

According to Golden Finance, Kyrgyzstan's President Sadir Zaparov signed legislation on Thursday granting legal status to the "digital som," taking the country a step towards issuing its own central bank digital currency (CBDC). Kyrgyzstan is still deciding whether to issue a CBDC, and Thursday's revision of the Kyrgyz Republic Constitution ensures that if the central bank continues to issue CBDCs, the "digital som" will be considered legal tender.
