Kyrgyzstan accelerates the promotion of blockchain national strategy, CZ @ cz-binance hired as official advisor
On April 15th, the National Investment Agency of Kyrgyzstan signed a strategic memorandum of understanding with Binance founder Zhao Changpeng (CZ), appointing him as the President's advisor on blockchain and Web3 development.
President Sadyr Zhabarov stated that encryption and blockchain have been listed as national priority development areas, with cooperation goals including policy consultation, technical support, and talent cultivation.
Kyrgyzstan has been continuously promoting policies related to encrypted finance in recent years. Since the enactment of the Virtual Assets Law in 2022, the country has established Bitcoin as a commodity, promoted the establishment of encrypted banks, and introduced blockchain technology into banking, payment, and other systems. At present, licensed encrypted banks have been included as a policy priority, aiming to enhance market transparency and financial security, while providing alternative solutions for underserved populations.
In addition, the Kyrgyz Ministry of Finance is also promoting the launch of a stablecoin USDKG supported by gold reserves, with plans to anchor $500 million in gold initially and expand to $2 billion in the future. This currency emphasizes transparent management and national endorsement, and is considered an important supplementary tool for cross-border payments and trade.
The country has imposed taxes on cryptocurrency mining, with over 530000 US dollars collected in the first 11 months of 2024, and cryptocurrency assets are gradually being incorporated into the fiscal system. At the same time, other Central Asian countries such as Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan are also promoting compliance. Blockchain is becoming a part of national governance and economic modernization in the region.
