💥 Rocket Combination: Cline + Gemini 2.5, Two tasks burn 126 API fees
Today is actually the first day switching to VS Code+@ cline+Gemini 2.5 Pro.
In the afternoon, I tried pushing the automatic task execution process introduced by others.
Indeed feasible, impressed by the powerful contextual window of Gemini 2.5 Pro.
Then in the evening, I received an email reminder from GCP: the budget for this month exceeded the limit, and the expenses for that month have already exceeded 130.
My first reaction is disbelief. I usually spend less than 10 yuan per month just to keep going. I clicked on the Billing page and looked at it, my chin instantly shaking.
The two automated tasks tested in the afternoon called the Google Gemini 2.5 Pro Tier 1 interface, with a total API cost of 126.76.
More specifically, the majority of the input tokens called within Cline reached 46 million usage, burning a full 115.
Brain pain 😖
💡 Step on the Pit Inspiration
1. The Gemini 2.5 Pro paid API interface is actually not cheap
2. Be wary of @ cline's crazy behavior of piling up upstream tokens (I knelt down)
3. GCP cannot set the hardtop budget amount and can only send an email reminder to exceed the usage limit. Be sure to pay attention to your spending amount.
P. The automation task in the afternoon was actually to batch modify the H2 titles of more than ten articles.
It seems that it will take some time (or more budget) before AI becomes a good helper for humans.
⚠️ Warning: Do not easily try the following methods again unless you are truly not afraid of burning money.
