New York lawmakers suggest using blockchain technology to obtain 'uncensored truth' in elections

According to The Block, as the new White House administration takes office, state lawmakers in the United States are considering adopting blockchain technology from multiple perspectives. New York State Councilor Clyde Vanel has submitted a bill aimed at exploring the use of blockchain technology to ensure election fairness and combat voter fraud. The proposal put forward by Vanel to the State Assembly Election Law Committee will instruct the New York State Election Commission to evaluate the use of on chain systems to present "unverified truths" in democratic decision-making processes. If the proposal is approved, the election committee will need to study relevant activities in other states and submit the research results within 12 months. The draft submitted on Tuesday is currently under review by the committee. If supported after revision and debate, the bill will be submitted to the state legislature for further discussion, then to the New York State Senate, and finally to the governor's office. The governor's signature is the final step before any possible legislation becomes law. Since 2017, four versions of Vanel's election bill have been proposed in the New York State House of Representatives, but none have been approved by the governor.
