According to Bloomberg, the French antitrust agency has imposed a fine of 150 million euros (approximately 162 million US dollars) on Apple for its App Tracking Transparency (ATT) system not complying with the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) privacy rules. The French antitrust agency has pointed out that Apple's ATT framework is "neither necessary nor proportionate" and its implementation constitutes "abusive behavior" in the sense of competition law. The ATT system forces applications to display multiple pop ups, complicating the user experience and preventing advertisers from effectively complying with GDPR regulations.
