Key Takeaways
- Circle signed Chelsea FC from 2026/27, putting USDC on men’s, women’s and academy shirts.
- USDC gains global reach through Chelsea’s 3 teams as stablecoins push deeper into payments.
- Circle’s 2026/27 Chelsea debut will test whether sports branding can accelerate USDC adoption.
Circle is taking USDC into one of football’s most visible commercial spaces, signing a principal partnership with Chelsea FC that will place the stablecoin brand on the front of the club’s shirts.
The deal begins with the 2026/27 season and covers Chelsea’s men’s, women’s and academy teams. Circle and USDC branding will appear for the first time at Chelsea men’s Premier League first home match of the season against Brighton.
The partnership gives Circle a high-profile consumer marketing platform at a time when stablecoins are moving beyond crypto trading and deeper into payments, settlement and mainstream financial infrastructure.
“We built USDC on the belief that money should work seamlessly for everyone everywhere, the way the internet does,” Circle co-founder and CEO Jeremy Allaire said. “Partnering with Chelsea connects us with a global sports community built on that same borderless vision.”

For Circle, the sponsorship is less about introducing another crypto product and more about normalizing the idea of digital dollars.
USDC is designed to move value globally around the clock, and Circle has increasingly positioned it as infrastructure for payments and cross-border finance rather than simply a trading asset.
Chelsea gives that message access to a global fan base spanning multiple markets and demographics.
“USDC on the iconic Chelsea jersey shows the world what the future of global finance looks like: open, borderless, and built for everyone,” Circle Chief Commercial Officer Kash Razzaghi said.
The sponsorship also reflects a broader change in crypto marketing. Earlier cycles were dominated by exchanges and token platforms seeking visibility through sports. Stablecoin issuers are now beginning to occupy that space as payments and regulated digital money move closer to the center of the industry.
The Chelsea deal arrives as Circle broadens the infrastructure around USDC. This includes the Circle Payments Network for global money movement, and Arc, its enterprise-grade blockchain aimed at financial applications.
Chelsea President Jason Gannon said the partnership places the club “at the forefront of football’s digital evolution.”
Circle is effectively using the sponsorship to connect a regulated financial product with one of the world’s most recognizable sports brands.
For stablecoins, that matters. USDC is no longer being marketed only to crypto users. It is increasingly being presented as a form of global digital money for ordinary payments, businesses, and consumers.
