As a staunch #Solana holder and investor, I find the ConnectorKit recently released by the SOL Foundation quite interesting. Although it may not be a major upgrade, it is crucial for the future focus on mobile, especially in areas like social, gaming, and payments, where user growth is expected to take off first. 🧐

📝 What practical problems does it solve?

1️⃣ Allows #ETH developers to "seamlessly transition" to #Solana

Previously, many teams developing Ethereum DApps used web3.js or Ethers.js to handle wallet connections. However, the toolchain for Solana (like solana/web3.js) is quite different from Ethereum's, making it time-consuming and labor-intensive to switch.

Now, ConnectorKit integrates an interface design similar to web3.js, with methods like "connect()" and "signMessage()" that are quite similar in usage. This means that protocols like Uniswap and Aave, if they ever want to deploy their products on Solana, won't have to rewrite wallet logic from scratch and can go live quickly. This implies that more quality projects may enter the Solana ecosystem faster, bringing real activity.

2️⃣ Deep integration of Solana's mobile suite Kit

Everyone knows that Solana has a phone called Saga, backed by their Solana Mobile Stack, which includes a development toolkit called Kit, specifically designed to help developers integrate on-chain functionality directly into Android apps.

ConnectorKit natively supports Kit, which is impressive. DApps no longer require users to switch to external wallets like Phantom. For example, when Stepapp (fitness + Web3) or Kamino (lending protocol) launch their mobile versions, users can log in, sign, and transact directly within the app, providing a smooth experience akin to regular apps. This elevates the product experience for mobile apps and lowers the entry barrier for Web2 users.

3️⃣ Supports Passkeys and Kora: Making it easy for Web2 users to get started

Currently, the vast majority of wallets require users to remember seed phrases, which is a nightmare for newcomers. However, ConnectorKit natively supports Passkeys (logging in with fingerprint, face, or Google account) and Kora (Solana's official embedded wallet solution).

Imagine this: you play a Solana game, like @staratlas, and click "Log in with Google." The system automatically creates a wallet for you, and you can start playing the game and buying gear without needing to understand what "private keys" or "seed phrases" are.

Isn't this the process that Web2 users are most familiar with? Once this is streamlined, user growth could explode exponentially.

From the upgrades promoted by the Solana Foundation, it is clear that they have shifted from the traditional focus on improving performance and stability (since they are already incredibly strong) to prioritizing user experience. They are adopting a user-centric approach to achieve foundational upgrades for scalable expansion. This is a typical example of American innovation, and we are very optimistic about this direction. They are prioritizing building the highways and establishing the rules, and eventually, the ecosystem and users will naturally be attracted.

In summary, this upgrade truly addresses several pain points in the Web3 experience:

First, the "invisibility" of wallets, allowing wallet functions to be embedded like building blocks into their products, enabling ordinary users to experience Web3 seamlessly.

Second, ConnectorKit achieves a unified access standard, reducing the variety of wallet integrations and avoiding security vulnerabilities.

Third, it primarily targets mobile users, especially in emerging markets. Many people globally do not have computers, but almost everyone has a smartphone. Particularly in Southeast Asia and Latin America, users are impatient with "registering accounts + passwords," let alone managing seed phrases. Being able to use Passkeys + native mobile integration to achieve "one tap to play" will significantly increase the market penetration of the Solana ecosystem.

While everyone is competing on TPS and decentralization, Solana is focusing on user experience. After all, no matter how fast a chain is, it’s useless if no one uses it. I believe that in the future, Solana will continue to lead in DeFi, RWA, GameFi, and SocialFi scenarios aimed at ordinary people. 🧐
