@WalletConnect has now started supporting the Sui chain, and recently integrated the Bitcoin Layer 2 sidechain Stack. Their roadmap shows they are expanding to upgrade into a standard infrastructure for crypto payments by supporting more networks.

If this continues, it follows the typical expansion path of payment networks (just like Visa / PayPal / Stripe).

It seems they are no longer satisfied with being just a "scan to connect wallet" tool, but are aiming to become the Web3 version of Stripe / PayPal?
