On July 22, Blue Origin, the private aerospace company founded by Amazon's Jeff Bezos, announced the passenger list for its latest flight mission, codenamed NS-34, which includes a name we are very familiar with, Justin Sun. The specific timing for this mission has not yet been disclosed, but generally speaking, once the passenger list is announced, the launch date is likely to be very soon.
This means that in a few weeks, this 1990-born Chinese crypto entrepreneur will be sitting in the rocket seat he purchased for $28 million in 2021, enjoying a brand new experience.
In response, Rhythm BlockBeats also spoke with Justin about the most pressing question on everyone's mind: "How will Justin promote Tron in space?" After all, this year Tron has shone brightly, capturing a significant share of the stablecoin market and acquiring a publicly listed company, successfully landing Tron on NASDAQ. If he can leave a mark in space, it would undoubtedly be a perfect year for both Tron and Justin Sun. Justin clearly stated that there would be no logos on the outside of the rocket, but those active in the crypto space will surely find Easter eggs.
The 6 passengers of NS-34
Rhythm BlockBeats: You booked this seat back in 2021. What preparations have you made for this space journey during this time?
Justin Sun: Yes, I reserved my seat for this space journey back in 2021. At that time, many people thought it was just a distant dream, but for me, it was a long-term investment in the future—not only a trust in technology but also a belief in the human spirit of exploration.
I have made comprehensive preparations for this space journey. Physically, I have undergone intensive training, including adapting to zero-gravity environments, simulating spacecraft operations, and enhancing my physical fitness to ensure I can cope with the extreme conditions of space.
Mentally, I have spent a lot of time studying the mysteries of space science and contemplating humanity's significance in the universe. This has strengthened my belief in combining this journey with the spirit of pushing boundaries that TRON embodies. I have also worked closely with the mission team to ensure that this adventure reflects our vision of a decentralized internet. It has been a challenging yet exciting process, and I am honored to represent the crypto community as we venture into the stars. I hope this opportunity will inspire more people to think about the future boundaries of humanity. TRON has always emphasized "decentralization reshaping the world," and space is one of the greatest "boundaries."
Rhythm BlockBeats: Elon Musk once printed the DOGE logo on his rocket. Is there a possibility that the rocket for this flight will also feature the Tron logo? Or will you wear a Tron t-shirt in space?
Justin Sun: Many friends have asked whether the TRON logo will appear on the rocket. To be honest, due to safety and standardization considerations, Blue Origin cannot print external brand logos on this rocket, which is understandable, as this is a very rigorous space mission.
As for whether I will bring TRON elements into space… I have to keep that a secret. On the day of the flight, I will be wearing a special blue spacesuit tailored by Blue Origin for each space passenger, so I cannot change it at will. However, during the training period before the flight, including some daily activities in the astronaut village, there may be opportunities to spot "Easter eggs."
As for whether there will be other surprises during the flight, I won't spoil too much; I want to keep some mystery for everyone. When I return, we can all look for these hidden "TRON and Crypto moments." Perhaps in one frame, you will discover a familiar red logo or some unintentional crypto signal. After all, I have always believed that the spirit of "decentralization" will eventually enter the broader world in various forms, including space.
Rhythm BlockBeats: As the youngest Chinese commercial astronaut in history, how do you see the future integration of Crypto and the space field becoming closer?
Justin Sun: As the youngest Chinese commercial astronaut, I am very aware that this space flight is not only a personal breakthrough but also a symbol representing a new generation of Chinese entrepreneurs who are moving from blockchain and AI to higher dimensions of technological frontiers, such as space.
I firmly believe that Crypto and space will ultimately merge into a single movement for the upgrade of human civilization. Why? Because both share a core commonality: decentralization and breaking boundaries. Crypto is a reconstruction of traditional finance, while space exploration challenges the boundaries of Earth. Both are redefining rules through technology.
In the future, I can boldly imagine several directions:
- On-chain space asset management: For example, space satellites, minerals, communication frequencies, etc., can be rights-managed and allocated through on-chain methods;
- Interplanetary financial systems: In the era of space colonization or deep space exploration, traditional financial systems cannot extend, and Crypto serves as a natural medium of value across planets;
- Blockchain + space data: Blockchain can become a trusted record carrier for data from space stations, satellite networks, etc., preventing tampering;
- Web3 community-driven space crowdfunding: Future rocket launches and satellite programs may be funded and governed by global DAO communities.
In a sense, Crypto is the first step in using technology to drive social structural change, and space is the next step. Personally, I will treat this flight as a bridge, hoping to bring the spirit of the Crypto community into space and also to bring the vast perspective of space back to Crypto.
