Analysts focusing on the cryptocurrency exchange-traded fund (ETF) sector predict that the probability of Solana, Litecoin, and XRP ETFs being approved by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) this year is as high as 95%.
Bloomberg ETF experts Eric Balchunas and James Seyffart posted on X platform on Monday, raising the approval probabilities for several altcoin spot ETFs.
“Seyffart stated that we expect a new wave of ETFs in the second half of 2025.”
They raised the approval probability for Solana (SOL), XRP (XRP), and Litecoin (LTC) spot ETFs from 90% to 95%.
They also assigned the same approval probability to ETFs based on a basket or index of crypto assets.
According to analysts, the deadline for the SEC to make a decision on the three altcoin ETFs is in October, while the crypto asset basket ETF could potentially be approved this week.
Analysts also raised the approval probability for other altcoin spot ETFs to 90%, including Dogecoin (DOGE), Cardano (ADA), Polkadot (DOT), Hedera (HBAR), and Avalanche (AVAX), with final rulings expected in the fourth quarter.
The approval probabilities for the Sui (SUI) and Tron (TRX) ETFs filed by Canary Capital are lower, at 60% and 50%, respectively.
In June, Balchunas stated, “Get ready for a potential summer of altcoin ETFs,” while Seyffart believed that “ETFs tracking a broad crypto index might be approved by the SEC next month.”
Bloomberg also reported on Monday (June 30) that the REX Osprey Solana Staking ETF is officially set to launch on Wednesday, becoming the first ETF product in the U.S. to allow crypto staking.
The product initially faced regulatory hurdles when registered with the SEC, which raised objections after approving its registration. The main issue was whether the ETF met the definition of an investment company under securities law.
To gain approval, the issuer agreed to invest at least 40% of its assets in other ETPs, most of which are registered outside the U.S.
Meanwhile, the SEC is not yet ready to approve Ethereum staking, having postponed its decision on whether the Bitwise spot Ethereum ETF can include staking features again on Monday.
The regulatory body also delayed its decision on the approval of Osprey Bitcoin Trust shares for listing and trading.
