Robinhood's layout in the realm of Real World Assets (RWA) is accelerating, as the digital brokerage has launched a tokenization-focused Layer-2 blockchain and has introduced stock token trading for EU users.

On Monday, Robinhood announced that this new Layer-2 network based on Arbitrum will support the issuance of over 200 U.S. stocks and exchange-traded fund (ETF) tokens, allowing European investors to access U.S. assets.

Robinhood's stock tokens will be commission-free and will enable trading five days a week, 24 hours a day.

The company also announced the launch of perpetual contracts in the EU, providing eligible traders with derivative trading opportunities with up to three times leverage. These trades will be routed through Bitstamp, a cryptocurrency exchange recently acquired by Robinhood for $200 million.

Robinhood is not the first exchange to offer tokenized stocks to European investors. As reported by Cointelegraph, Gemini has already begun offering tokenized versions of Strategy (MSTR) stock, allowing investors to access companies focused on Bitcoin.

After launching micro futures contracts for Bitcoin (BTC), XRP (XRP), and Solana (SOL), Robinhood announced a new tokenization plan days later, allowing traders to enter the derivatives market with a lower capital threshold.

In May of this year, the exchange acquired Canadian cryptocurrency operator WonderFi for $179 million.

The company is also actively promoting reasonable tokenization-related legislation in the U.S. and has submitted proposals to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission to establish a national RWA regulatory framework.

Robinhood's proposal includes the launch of a "Real World Asset Exchange" platform aimed at facilitating off-chain trading and on-chain settlement.

According to a recent report by RedStone, the RWA market has significantly grown over the past year, exceeding $24 billion as of June. However, most of this growth has come from private credit and U.S. Treasury bonds, with the market value of tokenized stocks still below $400 million.
