In an announcement that further solidifies the United Arab Emirates (UAE)’s burgeoning reputation as a hub for financial innovation, the country’s prominent fuel provider Emarat in partnership with Crypto.com has launched cryptocurrency payment services at its fuel stations. The initial phase of this initiative will see cryptocurrency payment options activated at 10 Emarat stations across the UAE.
According to a statement issued via X, Emarat said it has plans to enable crypto payments across its entire network. The fuel provider is said to have 155 service stations across the UAE, specifically in Dubai and the Northern Emirates. In addition to launching the designated crypto accepting fuel stations, the two also launched a fuel naming rights program.
“As part of this collaboration, we are also launching the Emarat x Crypto.com Service Station on Al Wasl Road in Dubai — a flagship location under the world’s first-of-its-kind Project Landmark, which introduces naming rights for fuel stations,” the statement added.
This alliance between a major regional fuel provider and a leading cryptocurrency exchange again underscores the increasing acceptance and integration of digital assets within the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. Furthermore, Dubai’s blockchain strategy and regional regulatory frameworks are promoting cryptocurrency adoption.
The initiative also seeks to enhance retail convenience, elevate the customer experience at Emarat stations and establish Emarat as a frontrunner in digital payment solutions within the fuel retail sector.
“This partnership embodies our joint commitment to innovation, redefining retail convenience, and enhancing the customer journey through cutting-edge digital experiences,” Emarat stated.
