ASHEVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA - On Sunday, August 30, Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent met with Bank of Japan Governor Kazuo Ueda on the margins of the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors Meeting in Asheville, North Carolina.
Secretary Bessent welcomed Governor Ueda's participation in the meetings and underscored the importance of close U.S.-Japan coordination on shared macroeconomic priorities.
The Secretary emphasized the importance of sound formulation and communication of monetary policy to anchor inflation expectations and avoid excess exchange rate volatility.
