Wu Blockchain reports that Wintermute stated in its August 31 market update that after BTC surged 23% the previous week, it entered a consolidation phase, rising only 0.10% last week and facing resistance multiple times near $82,000. BTC spot ETFs saw a net inflow of approximately $924 million last week, recording positive inflows for nine consecutive trading days before experiencing a net outflow of $202 million on Friday. ETH ETFs, during the same period, had a net inflow of about $816 million, with no single-day outflows.
Wintermute believes that two consecutive weeks of institutional inflows differentiate this rally from a simple short squeeze. Despite Federal Reserve Chairman Warsh’s Jackson Hole speech weakening the previous "currency devaluation trade" narrative, BTC has remained at high levels, with current price support largely driven by rebalancing demand from underweight investors. Heading into the September FOMC meeting, key levels to watch are $75,000 and $82,000; if ETF weekly fund flows turn negative or BTC’s weekly price falls below $72,000, the current outlook will no longer hold.
