[Solana Governance Vote Passes Proposal for Reduced Issuance Rate, 1.5% Issuance Floor Moved Forward to 2029] Odaily Planet Daily reports that validators of the Solana blockchain have completed the network's first binding on-chain governance vote. Proposal SGP-0002, titled 'Double Disinflation,' passed with a 67.0% approval rate, slightly above the 66.67% threshold. During the voting period, cryptocurrency exchange Kraken initially voted against the proposal but switched to support at the last moment. The proposal increases the annual reduction rate of new Solana token issuance from 15% to 30%, moving the fixed 1.5% issuance floor forward to 2029, three years earlier than the original plan of 2032. Over the next six years, approximately 18.9 million fewer SOL tokens are expected to be issued. Proposal SGP-0001, titled 'Solana Constitution,' passed with an 86.0% stake participation approval rate, officially establishing the mechanism for future governance votes. Following the reduction in issuance, staking yields are expected to decrease from the current rate of approximately 5.25% to around 2.25% within three years. Proposal SGP-0003, titled 'Resource and Inclusion Fee,' did not pass, receiving a 53.9% approval rate, below the two-thirds threshold. This proposal had aimed to split transaction fees into a base inclusion fee and a resource fee, and increase the daily burn rate from approximately 650 SOL to a maximum of 9,000 SOL. (Decrypt)
