LONG-TERM YIELDS END WILD WEEK NEAR DECADE HIGHS
Long-term bond yields remain near multi-year highs despite U.S. Treasury efforts to calm markets.
The 30-year Treasury yield eased to around 5.23% Friday after hitting a nearly 20-year closing high of 5.311% Monday.
Treasury plans to double long-term bond buybacks to at least $4 billion per operation, but the relief proved temporary.
Investor concerns remain focused on soaring U.S. debt, which has now surpassed $40 trillion.(*Walter Bloomberg)
