Ray Dalio: I have a 1% position in Bitcoin, but I prefer holding gold
On July 30, 2026, Bridgewater Associates founder Ray Dalio (@RayDalio) revealed on *The Diary Of A CEO* podcast that about 1% of his investment portfolio is in Bitcoin. He categorizes Bitcoin as 'money you can't print' and believes that the average person should allocate 5% to 15% of their portfolio to such hard assets. However, within that allocation, he leans more toward gold.
He explained that Bitcoin could potentially be compromised by quantum computing, monitored and taxed by governments, and is unlikely to be held in large quantities by central banks, as they require transaction privacy and control. Using Russia as an example, he pointed out that while other reserve assets can be frozen, gold cannot be taken away, highlighting its importance during times of conflict.
