According to a report by Caixin, Thai Buddhist amulets, a traditional symbol in Theravada Buddhism, have been gaining popularity among young people in China in recent years. However, alongside the booming cross-border trade of these amulets, China's gray capital networks are exploiting them as a channel for money laundering. Some illicit funds are being disguised as legitimate business income through amulet transactions, fake auctions, temple rentals, and peer-to-peer cryptocurrency transfers. Thailand's Anti-Money Laundering Office, Central Investigation Bureau, Cyber Police, Department of Business Development, Revenue Department, and Customs Department have launched a joint inter-agency crackdown.
