[Vietnam's Ministry of Public Security Proposes Legislation for Electronic Identification of Digital Assets] According to Vietnamese media outlet An Ninh Tien Te, Vietnam's Ministry of Public Security has proposed expanding the scope of electronic identification in the draft of the 'Electronic Identification and Authentication Law' to include data, applications, digital assets, and various other assets. The draft stipulates that electronic identification targets not only institutions, organizations, and individuals but also extends to physical entities such as products, goods, and devices, as well as digital resources and digital assets like databases, documents, images, and videos. The identification of digital assets will be carried out in accordance with the provisions of the Digital Technology Industry Law. The draft also outlines mechanisms for the suspension, restoration, and cancellation of electronic identities and identification codes. The Ministry of Public Security stated that the current electronic identification system primarily serves citizens and the digitalization of government services. However, in the context of the rapid development of the digital economy and digital society, a unified identification mechanism is needed to encompass various entities in both physical and digital environments.
