Circle Acquires IBM Blockchain Patent Portfolio

Foresight News reports that Circle Internet Group (NYSE: CRCL) has announced the acquisition of the core assets of IBM's blockchain patent portfolio. This portfolio includes over 680 patent families and nearly 1,000 granted patents, covering areas such as blockchain foundational technology, banking, financial services, insurance, enterprise infrastructure, supply chain verification, and secure cloud operations. Following this acquisition, Circle has become the company with the largest number of blockchain patents in the United States. The expanded intellectual property will support the infrastructure development of on-chain products such as USDC, Circle Payments Network, Arc, and intelligent financial tools. Circle and IBM also plan to explore further commercial collaboration opportunities.
