[Ownership of WEMIX Contract Compromised, Over 5.22 Million WEMIX Illegally Minted and Funds Bridged to Ethereum and BSC] The South Korean blockchain gaming platform WEMIX has provided an update on the abnormal transaction situation and corresponding countermeasures. Investigation results indicate that the ownership of a contract related to WEMIX was compromised, allowing the attacker to unauthorizedly mint approximately 5,225,525 WEMIX$. Subsequently, about 30,736 WEMIX and 724,198.27 USDC.e were exchanged. The stolen USDC.e was bridged to Ethereum and BSC, converted into assets such as ETH and USDT, and partially deposited into centralized exchanges. The attacker’s wallet and fund flows have been tracked, and requests have been made to exchanges and stablecoin issuers to freeze the assets. The exact cause is still under investigation, and the team is conducting a comprehensive review with external experts while also inspecting related and similar contracts.
