[Analysis: Bitcoin Long-Term Holders' Holdings Reach Record High of 16.3 Million BTC, but Average Unrealized Profit Remains Low]
Odaily Planet Daily News – CryptoQuant analyst Darkfost stated on the X platform that Bitcoin long-term holders (LTH, holding BTC for more than 6 months) have reached a historical high in holdings, currently exceeding 16.3 million BTC. Their average holding cost is approximately $49,400, and based on the current price, they are realizing only about 30% in unrealized profit, which is relatively low. In comparison, in January 2025, the net unrealized profit for long-term holders once reached as high as approximately 340%.
Darkfost also mentioned that during the end of the previous bear market, long-term holders were overall in a state of approximately 20% unrealized loss, and the market eventually experienced a deeper correction. This suggests that the market may still have the potential for further pullbacks in the future, pushing long-term holders back into a loss-making zone. However, this does not necessarily mean a repeat of historical patterns. He advises investors to prepare for both scenarios of market uptrend and correction.
