Anthropic Releases Claude Opus 5, Performance Close to Fable 5 but at Half the Price

According to Cryptobriefing, Anthropic released Claude Opus 5 on Friday, positioning it as an efficient model for advanced programming, AI agents, and professional knowledge work. Opus 5 is priced at $5 per million tokens for input and $25 per million tokens for output, consistent with Opus 4.8, offering performance close to Claude Fable 5 but at only half the price of the latter. The model is now available on the Anthropic platform and Claude API, serving as the new default model for Claude Max subscription users. Opus 5 delivers more than double the performance of Opus 4.8 on the Frontier Bench v0.1 benchmark and achieves a peak performance gap of less than 0.5% compared to Fable 5 in the CursorBench 3.2 test.
