Borrowing USDT without touching my stock positions? This is way too convenient!
Here’s what happened on Friday: I was holding Tesla stock and suddenly spotted an opportunity to short DRAW, but my account didn’t have a single USDT.
Sell my stocks? No way—I’m still bullish on Tesla long-term and didn’t want to touch my positions.
In the end, I used Bitget’s rToken collateralized lending—didn’t sell a single share of stock, and borrowed USDT. This is just too handy!
Here’s my process:
① Transferred rTSLA from the “Unified Account” to the “Funding Account”
② Opened the Bitget App and searched for “Lending”
③ Selected rTSLA as collateral
④ Entered the amount, confirmed the collateral ratio and borrowing costs
⑤ Borrowed USDT and continued using it according to my strategy
Here’s what the page showed during the operation:
• Annual interest rate: 2.8815%
• Initial collateral ratio: 78%
• Maintenance collateral ratio: 85%
• Liquidation collateral ratio: 91%
Specific parameters may vary based on market conditions and platform rules, so refer to the actual page for details.
The borrowed USDT can be used for spot trading, contracts, or financial management—or just kept as a reserve fund.
For me, the key isn’t maxing out leverage, but creating more flexibility for my otherwise static positions:
still retains exposure to the corresponding U.S. stock price, while also providing liquidity through collateralization.
It’s kind of like opening a “backup cash channel” for your holdings: you don’t need to sell assets first, but you can still access funds when needed.
That said, this isn’t a risk-free “double profit” strategy. Borrowing incurs interest, and if rTSLA’s price drops, it could push up the collateral ratio. If it approaches the maintenance or liquidation line, you’ll need to add collateral or repay the loan promptly.
My principles are:
• Don’t borrow the maximum amount;
• Leave enough safety cushion for the collateral ratio;
• Determine the purpose of the loan and repayment source in advance;
• Reduce leverage proactively during earnings season when volatility increases.
If you’re already holding TSLA long-term and want to improve capital efficiency, rToken collateralized lending is definitely a tool worth exploring.
Keep your positions exposed, and keep your funds flowing.
