According to Agência Brasil, prosecutors in São Paulo, Brazil, have filed a civil lawsuit against Tools for Humanity Corporation, the operator of the World ID project, and Amazon AWS Serviços Brasil Ltda., accusing them of illegally collecting iris data from over 400,000 people in São Paulo.
Prosecutors stated that participants received rewards ranging from 300 to 700 reais for iris scans, with many of them being from socioeconomically vulnerable groups. The lawsuit demands the suspension of iris data collection in exchange for payments or other benefits, the permanent deletion of collected data, and collective moral damages of at least 240 million reais (approximately $47.2 million USD). https://(wublock123.com)/news/brazil-prosecutors-sue-world-id-operators-seek-240m-reais-65301
