[Morgan Stanley: Fed Expected to Hold Steady Next Week]
Odaily Planet Daily News - Morgan Stanley strategists stated in a report that recent data suggests the Federal Reserve will hold steady at its July meeting and may maintain interest rates unchanged for the remainder of the year. They wrote: 'The Fed is losing patience with inflation above its target. The inflation trend in the coming months will be critical—we expect inflation to decline as anticipated—otherwise, the Fed may pivot to raising rates later this year.'
Currently, the money market has priced in nearly two rate hikes by the Fed before the end of the year. However, the slowing inflation trend may prompt the Fed to keep rates unchanged this year, maintaining the federal funds rate in the range of 3.50% to 3.75%. 'We expect the downward trend in inflation to lead the Fed to hold steady this year.' (Jin10)
