(not to pick on the OP, this is an easy dunk often seen here) do you all think the software is dug from the ground fully formed? it costs $ 30-60mm annually to maintain, secure, and scale ethereum. this should be considered table stakes relative to: 1. the marketcap 2. the resources the ecosystem gets out of it today: a VM with dominating network effects, best-in-class network uptime & robustness, a high quality (but much maligned) liquid asset 3. the mind-boggling potential of the next 10 years: the root of trust for a network of global state machines all while core devs maintain their hunger to scale without compromise. there's still so much to do. we need a sober and radical re-appraisal of the looming funding gap(trent.eth)
