oof. might be the worst take on the topic. (not to pick on the OP, this is an easy dunk often seen here)
do you all think the software is dug from the ground fully formed? it costs $ 30-60mm annually to maintain, secure, and scale ethereum. this should be considered table stakes relative to:
1. the marketcap
2. the resources the ecosystem gets out of it today: a VM with dominating network effects, best-in-class network uptime & robustness, a high quality (but much maligned) liquid asset
3. the mind-boggling potential of the next 10 years: the root of trust for a network of global state machines
all while core devs maintain their hunger to scale without compromise. there's still so much to do. we need a sober and radical re-appraisal of the looming funding gap(trent.eth)
