[The Popularization of AI Tools Drives the Growth of Crypto Scams, Making Fraud More Scalable and Personalized] BlockBeats News, January 14, according to Forbes, by 2025, cryptocurrency scams will have become a massive criminal industry worth at least $14 billion annually. This is primarily due to the widespread use of AI tools, which enable scammers to more efficiently create fake identities and produce more convincing deepfake scam content, significantly increasing the average revenue per scam. Statistics show that groups using AI tools can defraud victims of an average of $3.2 million per successful scam, while groups not using AI tools average $719,000 per scam. The losses caused by the former are 4.5 times higher than those caused by the latter. In common "pig-butchering" scams in 2025, criminal groups first establish "emotional connections" with victims or portray themselves as "investment mentors" on social platforms, then lure victims into fake crypto trading platforms, ultimately stealing their funds. AI has made "pig-butchering" scams more scalable and personalized, significantly increasing their success rates and the amounts involved.
