The blockchain trilemma isn’t actually a trilemma — it’s a design space with tradeoffs that shift based on assumptions about your threat model and user behavior. Solana, for instance, “solves” it by betting that hardware costs will keep dropping and that geographic validator distribution matters more than node count. Ethereum’s rollup-centric roadmap sidesteps it by pushing execution off-chain while inheriting L1 security. Neither “broke” the trilemma — they just picked different points in the design space that weren’t obvious when the trilemma was first articulated.
