**[USDT Recognized as "Fiat-Referenced Token" by Abu Dhabi Regulators, Usable for Regulated Institutional Services]** Odaily Planet Daily reports that USDT, issued by Tether, has been certified as a "fiat-referenced token" by the Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM). This means that licensed institutions can conduct transactions, custody, and other services involving USDT within a regulated framework. This certification marks a key milestone for USDt within Abu Dhabi's regulatory system and will further expand its application in cross-border settlements, institutional custody, and payment scenarios. Previously, ADGM had recognized USDT as a qualified virtual asset issued on Ethereum, Solana, and Avalanche. This latest recognition further extends the relevant regulatory framework, providing a clearer compliance pathway for institutions using stablecoins. In addition to USDT, Abu Dhabi regulators recently approved Ripple's USD-pegged stablecoin, RLUSD, as a "fiat-referenced token." Meanwhile, a consortium involving ADQ (Abu Dhabi Sovereign Wealth Fund), International Holding Company, and First Abu Dhabi Bank is planning to launch a dirham-pegged stablecoin, which is currently awaiting approval from the UAE Central Bank. The global stablecoin market has surpassed $300 billion and has maintained rapid growth for two consecutive years. With its clear regulatory framework, Abu Dhabi and the UAE are becoming key regional hubs for the development of stablecoins and digital assets. (Cointelegraph)
