Trump said he has already decided who will be the next Fed Chair and will announce it soon. Is he moving up the announcement that was originally expected later this month? Right now, the frontrunner seems to be Hassett, Trump’s closest economic advisor, who fully supports Trump’s stance on aggressive rate cuts. Personally, I think the best choice would be Waller, who is more neutral and dovish, relatively rational, not overly aggressive, and willing to listen to the market’s concerns, emphasizing communication and logic. More importantly, compared to Hassett, Waller would make the market feel that the Fed won’t spiral out of control in the future. But all of this is just our speculation—let’s see who Trump ultimately picks.
