Only 1 project launched in the past 19 days?
South Korea's leading exchange, Upbit, has noticeably slowed down its listing frequency recently. After the frequent listing spree in early November, things have suddenly come to a halt. Last week, they only announced one project, which was the already circulating token Meteora.
This morning, various Korean media outlets revealed that South Korean regulatory authorities are planning to impose sanctions and business restrictions on exchanges like Upbit, Bithumb, and Coinone.
The main reasons cited are violations of KYC protocols, failure to report suspicious transactions, and other issues. It’s expected that penalties such as suspending deposits and withdrawals for new users for the next three months may be implemented.
