[Goolsbee Expresses Unease About December Rate Cuts, Reluctant to Overbet on 'Temporary Inflation'] Golden Finance reports that Federal Reserve official Goolsbee has hinted at his unease regarding another rate cut during the Fed's December meeting. On Thursday, Goolsbee stated that the decline in inflation "seems to have stalled, or even issued warnings of heading in the wrong direction. So this makes me a bit uneasy." An increasing number of policymakers are concerned about excessive rate cuts while inflation remains elevated. Minutes from last month's meeting revealed that although officials implemented a second consecutive rate cut, many were inclined to oppose another cut in December. The Consumer Price Index rose by 3% in September, still above the Fed's 2% target. Inflation had slowed earlier this year but surged again following the introduction of new tariffs. Goolsbee remarked, "The economy is quite strong, and I believe we will eventually return to a situation where 'rates can drop significantly.' But in the near term, I feel a bit uneasy about prematurely cutting rates significantly and relying on 'this will be temporary, and inflation will fall back.'
