I used to think that EVM public chains could only choose between two options: either developers were familiar and easy to get started with, or extreme performance to roll TPS. Those who wanted to "take both sides" were mostly just talking about it. Until recently, I flipped through @ SeiNetwork again.
On one hand, there is a fully EVM compatible, parallel execution, and specially tuned execution layer for matching and clearing. The official themselves dare to say that they want to further increase EVM performance by 50 times, with the goal of bringing the on chain experience close to web2; On the other hand, the real world keeps stamping it: Binance personally stepped down as a validator and directly added Sei to the "trusted list of global top exchanges". Binance US, OKX, and Robinhood successively listed SEI, pushing the entrance from the pure Crypto circle to a wider range of compliant user disks; The Canary Staked SEI ETF has also appeared on DTCC's active&pre launch list, which means that Wall Street's clearing system has reserved a seat for it, only the last step of regulatory throttle is needed
So the phrase 'The family of the EVM. The performance requires for global scale. Sei deliveries both. Built for global finance. Trusted by global enterprises.' now seems to be no longer just a slogan, but a bunch of practical progress, slowly putting the 'global financial settlement layer' on the chain.
If you used to only see SEI as another L1, you may need to change the label now: this is more like an EVM high-speed track for global finance, rather than adding bricks and tiles to a short-term narrative of a certain track.
